In moderate to severe eczema and chronic hives (urticaria) multiple food factors are involved and there is no reliable test to identify them. Diet revision is both diagnostic and therapeutic. To solve a severe skin problem, consider doing diet revision using the Alpha Nutrition Program with the option of supportive medication for the first few weeks of recovery.

The proper evaluation of the role of food as the antigen source may require a food holiday on an elemental nutrient formula. If the skin triggers were in the food supply, the skin inflammation should diminish. Slow food reintroduction is then required to screen returning foods for skin activity.

The Decision to do Diet Revision In Children

The decision to modify the child's diet is made when eczema is moderate to severe, especially when there are other problems suggesting food allergy.
