Rock and Roll
Foreigner is a British-American hard rock band, originally formed in 1976 by English musicians, Mick Jones and Ian McDonald, along with American vocalist Lou Gramm. Their first album, was released in March 1977 and sold more than four million copies in the United States, staying in the Top 20 for a year with such hits as "Feels Like the First Time", "Cold as Ice" and "Long, Long Way from Home". A subsequent album, Agent Provocateur, was released in December 1984 with one of my favorite songs "I Want to Know What Love Is", a gospel-inspired ballad with backing vocal by Jennifer Holliday and the New Jersey Mass Choir. The song was their biggest US hit.
Mick Jones and Lou Gramm were inducted to the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2013. They joined singer Thom Gimbel and the house band to perform "I Want to Know What Love Is" – a performance that brought the entire audience to its feet. From the first time I heard this song on the radio, I wanted more. My desire to create an instrumental version was based on love. The song became one of my anthems that combined heroic music with meaningful lyrics. The topic is central to every human`s attempt to understand innate forces at work in us.
